    Falcon Families,

We had a great first full week of school. Our kindergarten friends arrived on Monday and we are excited for our newest falcons to join us. We had our Welcome Back Assembly on Friday afternoon where our middle school leadership students shared about community and what that means at TOPS. This email is to provide reminders, updates and information regarding the upcoming week!

    • Rain and cooler weather continues to be in the forecast for the week. Please make sure your students have sweatshirts and raincoats at school. We will always be going outside unless it is a torrential downpour or thundering and lightening.
    • While the buses routes and pick-up/drop-off times haven't been perfect, this is a significant improvement from last year. Our six large school buses have left the school most afternoons on time. We continue to struggle with a few late buses in the morning. Please know that we are aware of the problem and continue to communicate with transportation. Please communicate your transportation concerns with routes, times, etc... to our downtown transportation department (206-252-0900).
    • Our new middle school and elementary instrumental music band teacher will be starting later this week! John Forsleff is joining us from Flint, Michigan and a graduate of Western Michigan University's music program. He comes with a variety of teaching and music experience. We are excited to have him join the TOPS team!
    • Please expect the following communications from TOPS teachers:
      • K-3 classroom teachers are sending weekly letters home on Fridays in their students "go home" folders.
      • Grades 4-5 teachers are sending weekly updates out on Fridays via email and utilizing Schoology to post information, resources, etc...
      • 6th grade teachers are sending a weekly email
      • 7th grade ELA/SS is a weekly email
      • 7th grade math is posted on Schoology
      • 8th grade ELA/SS/Math is posted on Schoology
    • TOPS Race and Equity team is looking for parents to join and work with us. Please communicate directly with Danielle Alon if you are interested.
    • Ask your student about our Friday morning ASL announcements! Every Friday our students in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH) program will be sharing the daily announcements with our students via video and in ASL.
