    TOPS Fall Campaign

    Thanks to our amazing TOPS community for your generous support of the Fall Campaign! It has been a pleasure to work on this fundraiser and we are excited that enrichment programs at TOPS will continue thanks to the money raised. On December 2nd, we will announce the results and winner of the $200 Amazon gift card.

    We would also like to extend our gratitude to the following parents for their huge commitment to making this incredibly successful: Ben Kelly, Nick Barnett, Heather Bauer, Melissa Ahlers, Tina Shereen, Lori Tate, Margaret Ales and Doug Stanley-Hunt.     Winter After-School Enrichment Registration Starts 12/3

    Registration opens Tuesday, December 3 at 12pm. Classes fill up so register early to secure your spot. Scholarships are available. Direct questions to ARC Area Operation Supervisor, Nate Moxley at nathaniel.Moxley@seattle.gov. There are three ways to register:

    • Online - TOPS winter classes or you can go to https://www.seattle.gov/parks to click on the yellow “Sign up for Activities, Classes & More" button, then type TOPS into the search bar to find classes offered at TOPS for the upcoming session.
    • Stop by Montlake Community Center at 1618 Calhoun Ave E.
    • Call Montlake Community Center at (206) 684-4736.

    Winter Band and Orchestra Concert

    Tuesday, December 10th at TOPS Concert Hall (aka the Gym)

    • 9:40am Assembly (5th-8th grade Band and Orchestra students)
    • 7pm Evening Concert (4th-8th grade Band and Orchestra students)

    We need parent volunteers to help before the concert. Email John jmforsleff@seattleschools.org and Stephanie slhellekson@seattleschools.org to coordinate assistance. And if you’d like to volunteer to run and coordinate concessions, please email Stephanie.

    Middle School Basketball 2019-2020

    Players must have an Athletic Registration Form and a Physical Participation Form on file. Go to https://www.seattleschools.org/cms/one.aspx?portalId=627&pageId=14975953 or pick them up from Eric in the gym office. The Activity Bus is available for players. Please sign up a week in advance in the office. For questions contact the boys coach Eric at 206-252-3516 elherndon@seattleschools.org or the girls coach Kari at Karikcontact@gmail.com

    • Boys start on Mon, Dec 9th. Practice is on Mondays and Thursdays 3:30-4:45pm.
    • Girls start on Tue, Dec 10th. Practice is on Tuesday and Fridays 3:30-4:45pm.
    • Games will be played on Saturdays beginning in January at neutral sites.

    TOPICS: Hour of Code - Volunteers Needed

    Wednesday and Thursday, December 11 & 12 (exact times TBD). Contact Kathy at topics@topks8.org to volunteer to support students in the classroom as they work through online tutorials designed to introduce them to the basics of computer coding. No coding experience needed - just a little patience and desire to help our kids learn.

    Day of Service and Social Justice Topics, Friday, January 24, 12:10-3:10pm

    January 24th may seem a long way off, but now is the time to commit to this special Topics day! Parent volunteers are needed to lead and assist activities for small groups of 1st-5th graders that focus on social justice themes and/or helping others in our community. Contact Kathy at topics@topsk8.org to get more information, brainstorm ideas, and sign-up to participate in this opportunity to provide educational experiences for students that are engaging and meaningful.
