    Site Council Survey

    Site Council is TOPS’ version of the PTA - a group of parents, staff, and neighborhood reps responsible for helping to assure high standards of educational excellence and an inclusive, supportive school community. Site Council currently meets the second Wednesday of each month from 5-7 PM, and parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend. Would a later start time be better for you?     TOPS Winter Wishes

    Each year the TOPS community sponsors families by donating gifts for the Winter Wishes event.

    • If you want to sponsor a family, take tags from the Winter Wishes display in the front hall, record the family name on the Sponsor Log in the office and return wrapped items by December 18.
    • If you wish to be sponsored, please fill out the attached application and email it to Kathy Hanson, TOPS counselor, by the end of the day, Monday, December 10:

    Winter After-School Enrichment Classes @ TOPS, Register Today!

    Winter 2019 after-school enrichment classes start on Monday, January 14 and go through Friday, April 5. For more information see and the Class Brochure: Note: Current Fall Enrichment classes go through Thursday, December 20.

    Winter Music Assembly and Evening Concert - Dec 11

    The Winter Music Assembly starts at 9:40 a.m. in the TOPS gym with each grade level from K-3rd grade singing and signing one song followed by a performance by the TOPS Band and Orchestra. Band and Orchestra students will also perform in the evening concert from 7-8:10 p.m in the TOPS gym.

    Basketball/Gaming camp

    Coach Eric will host a winter basketball gaming camp from December 31st-January 4th. For more information, email or call 206 252 3516.

    Middle School Basketball

    Boys practice will start on Dec 10th and will practice Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:45. Girls practice will start on Dec 11th and will practice Tuesday’s from 3:30 to 4:45 and Wednesday’s from 2:25-3:45. All players need to have a Seattle School District Athletic Registration and Physical form on file in order to participate. The basketball and Athletic Participation forms are on the Seattle School District website under “Departments”/”Athletics”/”Forms”, or pick them up from Eric.     Girls on the Run

    TOPS has two teams — Girls on the Run for 3rd-5th and Heart & Sole for 6th-8th grade girls. Learn how you can join Girls on the Run as a volunteer coach this Spring:

    TOPICS: Hour of Code - Thank you

    This past Wednesday and Thursday, each of the 1st-5th grade classes participated in a nationwide program designed to introduce students to computer coding. 1st and 2nd graders used coding basics to help their Angry Bird through a maze, and 3rd-5th graders created an animated Dance Party with their coding skills. A huge thank you to the more than 30 parent volunteers who patiently supported and encouraged our students. There are lots more great tutorials and coding games to explore at

    Next TOPICS: Day of Service and Social Justice on Jan 25 - VOLUNTEER today!

    Parent volunteer leaders are needed for the annual TOPICS MLK Day of Service and Social Justice on January 25th, 12-3 p.m. This specially themed TOPICS day gives parents the opportunity to directly engage with students around TOPS' core mission of social justice. Here are just a few ideas: volunteer at a food bank, perform service projects around the school, make sack lunches for a homeless camp, do activist art, explore food equity. TOPICS Coordinator, Kathy, can help you brainstorm and develop an idea, or you can peruse a list of Day of Service TOPICS at Email topics@topsk8.orgto get started!
