    Falcon Families,

Election day happened all of last week-not just a day.  For me, the week was mentally and physically exhausting.  Voter turnout for the election was unprecedented.  Recent counts show over 146 million Americans voted and we can expect this to rise based that many states are still in the process of finalizing their counts.  States are still in the process of certifying their votes and this will continue to happen throughout the next month.  Based on statistical analysis, projections and announcements were made across the country on Saturday, indicating that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris would be the new President and Vice-President elect, respectfully.

For the first time in the history of our country we have an African American female vice-president elect.  100 years ago, on August 18th, the 19th Amendment giving Women the Right to Vote was ratified.  The glass ceiling broke on Saturday with the announcement of a woman of color as our next vice-president elect.  I am proud to be a witness to a historical and exciting moment.  I am proud to be a woman in a country where women can achieve anything they want.

Regardless of political affiliations, I believe that all parents want the best for their children. We all want to work towards a country where our child (ren) can be successful and accepted for who they are and that they can be/do whatever they aspire.  I think the Hamilton Cast shares this best as they sing Dear Theodosia.

    Have a great week Falcons!
